Remember the days when we would gather in 'parties'?
I'm thinking the pampered chef, Tupperware and I was actually a stylist with Premier Designs jewelry for 18+ years -crazy right?!
I loved the conversations, meeting new people, teaching simple style tips and THE FOOD!
I mean, a potluck is where you find fabulous new recipes right? (lol, my husbands worst nightmare!)
This was like trying new treats 2-3 per week :)
I can still remember where the lady lived, what her house smelled like and she was making this hearty soup for her hubby who was about to leave on a hunting trip.
"Would you like to try some soup?" she asked.
Soup on a chilly fall day? sure!
It was delicious! and of course flattery to any cook is "can I get the recipe?"

All good recipes are stained right?!
and yes, I still love a good recipe on a recipe card -call me old school! Pinterest rocks but so do the tried and true family recipes written on a card!
and for a bonus, besides browning the beef its really a dump-in recipe
dump, brown the beef and add . . .and simmer = DONE!
Here's my recipe:
Ingredients:
10 cups water
1 64 oz V8/ vegetable juice
1 Tbsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/4 cup minced onion
1 bag carrot shreds
1 small bag hash-browns
1 can green beans
1 can corn
2 pkg trion onion soup mix
3 lb browned hamburger
1 c minute rice
Add all ingredients to stock pot except rice.
Simmer for 3 hours (or you can make in a LARGE crockpot)
add rice for last 1/2 hour
ENJOY!
and yes, pretty dishes are an added bonus :) (these are from Crate & Barrel)
